Greetings, I am Dee, founder of DarkSkye Designs, a premium fine jewelry manufacturer.
Maille is a material that was used in ancient times to construct many pieces of armor or protective gear. I use it to make smaller, ornamental pieces, or jewelry, if you will. Creating these handmade custom pieces is an intricate and time consuming process, therefore they are only available on a very limited basis as opposed to standard consumer mass market, machine made items that have no real value apart from their base material worth and the knowledge that there are thousands of other people out there with exactly the same piece ;).
I am the sole artisian in my province. All fine jewelry items I offer are hand crafted using the highest quality materials, manufactured to the highest standards. My rings are cut using the finest blades for the cleanest closures so you will experience no snags on clothing or hair.
I specialize in custom work. Normally I do not keep much in stock, but make items to order though I do try to keep a few various pieces on hand. I personally create by hand each and every piece you see on this site. What this means is that, starting with raw wire I coil, cut and weave hundreds, if not thousands of small rings into the finished item. My material of choice for jewelry is sterling silver, as it is not only a joy to work with, but has substantial weight in the final product, and looks very handsome! Also offered is 14/20 gold filled, and solid 14K gold. In addition to traditional weave maille items, I also offer some pieces from time to time in various styles of viking knit in fine silver. This is a very handsome product indeed!
